Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patient of either gender undergoing elective surgical procedures performed under GA with expected duration of surgery less than 3 hours. Patients giving written and informed consent. Adult patients aged 20-60 Years. Patients belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) grade I and II.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient should not be a part of any other study. History of allergic reactions to study drug, Chronic alcoholism Obesity (BMI more than 30) Pregnancy Patient having neurological disorder, liver disorder History PCM (paracetamol), opioids and NSAIDS drugs 48 hr before surgery History chronic use of analgesic Body temperature more than 38 degree Celsius or less than 36 degree Celsius

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1.To assess and compare the effect of timing (after induction vs 30 min before completion of surgery) of intraoperative administration of paracetamol on postoperative shivering. 2.To assess and compare grade of postoperative shivering between the two groups. Timepoint: 1.Incidence of postoperative shivering between the two group every 30 min till 4 hr in postoperative period. 2.Grade of shivering between the two group every 30 min till 4 hr in postoperative period.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.To assess and compare the postoperative analgesia NRS score between the two groups. 2.To assess and compare the change in the hemodynamic parameters (HR, SBP, DBP, MAP and SpO2) from baseline at different time interval in both groups. 3.To assess and compare change in temperature at regular time interval between the two groups. 4.To assess and compare side effect or complication, if any. Timepoint: 1.NRS score every 30 min till 4hr in postoperative period. 2.Hemodynamic parameters (HR, SBP, DBP, MAP and SpO2) every 15 min from baseline till completion of surgery and every 30 min till 4hr in postoperative period. 3.Temperature every 30 min from preinduction till 4hr in postoperative period. 4.Adverse effect if any.
