Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 28 to 51 year old non smoking patients Diagnosis of stage III/IV periodontitis. Teeth involved must be vital with no mobility. Clinical attachment loss greater than or equal to 4 mm and probing depth greater than or equal to 6 mm at the intraosseous defect site. Selected intra-bony defects with a length and width of at least 3 mm. Two or three wall intra-bony defects with an angulation of greater than or equal to 37 degrees.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The presence of systemic diseases that could impact the effectiveness of the treatment. Pregnant women. Participants who either refused to take part in the trial or did not fit the inclusion criteria.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Defect Base Level (DBL): Distance from the cementoenamel junction (CEJ) to the base of the intra-bony defect. Crestal Bone Level (CBL): Distance from the CEJ to the alveolar crest. Crestal Interseptal Bone Width (CIBW): Measures the width of the interseptal bone 1 mm apical to the alveolar crest.Timepoint: 4 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Probing depth (PD): measured from the level of the gingival margin to the bottom of the pocket. Relative attachment level (RAL): measured from a fixed landmark other than the cementoenamel junction (CEJ) to the bottom of the pocket. Plaque index (Silness and Loe) Gingival index (Loe and Silness)Timepoint: 4 months
