Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All partial or complete articular distal radius fractures. Age between 18 years to 80 years. Fresh fractures which present within two weeks of injury.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Gustilo Anderson Type 2 and 3 open distal radius fractures. Surgically unfit medical comorbid conditions. Pathological fractures. Fractures of the ipsilateral upper limb except fracture of the ulnar styloid. Patients not consenting to participate.

1.To compare the articular reduction of external fixator assisted versus unassisted ORIF of intraarticular (AO fracture subtypes B and C) DRFs in the postoperative radiographs. 2.To compare the functional outcomes of external fixator assisted versus unassisted ORIF of intraarticular (AO fracture subtypes B and C) distal radius fractures at six-month follow-up using QuickDASH and PRWE scores. Timepoint: 1. Postoperative period 2. Six-month follow-up

1. To quantify & compare the workload endured by the surgeon in performing the surgical procedures using the National Aeronautics & Space Administration Task Load Index (NASA TLX). 2. To compare the range of motion in wrist flexion & extension, forearm pronation & supination, & grip strength with contralateral side. 3. To study the pattern of intraarticular fracture lines on the preoperative CT scans of the wrist.Timepoint: 1. Immediate postoperative period 2. At 6 month follow up 3. At baseline
