Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Diagnosed cases of Insomnia of age group 30 to 60 years irrespective of gender, caste, education. 2.Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) score more than 15 at screening (indicative of at least moderate insomnia). 3.Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score more than 5, indicating clinically significant poor sleep quality. 4.Not currently undergoing any other alternative therapies eg mantra, meditation or yoga nidra) for insomnia

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Known history of use of sedatives, hypnotics, or antidepressants within the last 4 weeks. 2.Known history of Chronic neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, or endocrine disorders affecting sleep. 3.Shift workers. 4.History of hearing impairment or inability to chant or listen to mantra instructions clearly. 5.Pregnant and lactating women. 6.Patients with uncontrolled diabetes.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1.Change in ISI score (mean difference and greater or equal to 8 point clinically significant improvement) and PSQI (Improvement in sleep quality) from baseline to 4 weeks after the intervention of Gayatri Mantra chanting and Guda Pippalimula churna.Timepoint: 28 days

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Changes in sleep parameters (e.g., total sleep time, sleep onset latency) recorded in the PSQI and NIH Sleep Diary. 2. Improvement in daytime alertness and subjective well-being as reported by participants. 3. Changes in EEG pattern. Timepoint: 28 days
