Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adolescents: 1. Boys aged 11 18 years admitted with substance use or gaming disorder. 2. Clinically stable and able to participate in psychosocial interventions. 3. Assent from adolescent and parental consent (taken at admission). Adults 1. Inpatients aged more than 18, diagnosed with alcohol dependence as per ICD-11. 2. Clinically stable and able to participate in psychosocial interventions. 3. Willing to consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Adolescents: 1. Adolescents who got admitted with their own intrinsic motivation for change (where MI is not clinically relevant). 2. Severe cognitive impairment preventing participation. 3. Severe suicidality or acute psychiatric instability. Adults 1. Patients who got admitted with their own intrinsic motivation for change (where MI is not clinically relevant). 2. Severe cognitive impairment, including prolonged delirium tremens, preventing participation. 3. Severe suicidality, acute psychiatric instability, or antisocial personality disorder.
