Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients undergoing elective surgery under general anaesthesia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients posted for emergency surgery, patients requiring double lumen tube for intubation, patients with uncontrolled systemic illnesses

Efficacy of two doses of dexmedetomidine in attenuating hemodynamic response to intubationTimepoint: Efficacy of two doses of dexmedetomidine in attenuating hemodynamic response to intubation. Monitoring of hemodynamics done in the intraoperative period every 5minutes in the initial 30minutes, then every 30minutes till extubation. The same monitoring is then continued upto 2hrs un the post operative period.
