Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients of both genders aged between 18 to 65 years Patients Scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy under general anesthesia American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I or II Patients who provide written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Age 18 and 65 years Patient not giving written consent for study participation. ASA physical status III and IV Known allergy or hypersensitivity to magnesium sulfate History of renal impairment or dysfunction eg creatinine clearance less than 60 ml per min Patients with cardiac conduction abnormalities eg heart block Patients on calcium channel blockers or magnesium-containing medications Severe hepatic dysfunction

To assess the changes in intraoperative EtCO2 following administration of intravenous magnesium sulphate. To assess the effect of intravenous magnesium sulphate on postoperative pain scores using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) at 1,4,12 and 24 hours postoperatively. To observe any intraoperative hemodynamic changes (heart rate, mean arterial pressure) associated with magnesium sulphate administration. To record any adverse effects or complications related to magnesium sulphate administration Timepoint: To assess the effect of intravenous magnesium sulphate on postoperative pain scores using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) at 1,4,12 and 24 hours postoperatively.
