Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients aged 12-18 yrs. 2. Patients undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment for greater than equal to 6 months. 3. Patients who provide informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with systemic conditions which can impact oral hygiene maintenance. 2. Patients with congenital/syndromic conditions which can impact ability to understand instructions.

MeasureTime frame
PATIENT COMPLIANCE MEASURED IN THE FORM OF 1.Oral hygiene will be assessed using Simplified Oral Hygiene index measured at baseline and at every appointment. 2.Appliance maintenance will be evaluated on a four point scale where 25 points given for no broken brackets or bands and no bends in archwire, 15 points for no breakage or minor bends in archwire, 5 points for moderate bends in archwire or loose bands, 0 points for broken brackets, loose bands or lost appliances. 3.Appointment punctuality will be evaluated on a five point scale, where 25 points equaled on time within 15 mins, 20 points equaled 15 to 30 minutes late, 15 points equaled greater than 30 minutes late, 10 points equaled changed appointment within 72hrs of appointment, and 0 points for a no show.
