Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Adult patients (more than 18 years of age) 2.Subjects diagnosed with sickle cell anemia by hemoglobin high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. History of chronic lung disease 2. Smokers 3. Patients with sickle cell trait and those with co-existing thalassemia or other hemoglobinopathies 3. Patients currently in vaso-occlusive crisis 4. Patients already receiving long-term continuous positive airway pressure therapy for any indication 5. Critically ill or hemodynamically unstable patients 6. Pregnant or lactating women
