Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Pregnant or postnatal women diagnosed with severe PE based on the following established clinical criteria Systolic blood pressure equal or more than 160 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure equal or more than 110 mmHg. Proteinuria more than 5 g/day as determined by a 24-hour urine sample. Plus, any one of the symptoms- Oliguria (less than 500 ml/24 hours). Visual disturbances, pulmonary edema, cyanosis, or hepatic dysfunction. Thrombocytopenia or impaired liver function as identified through laboratory findings. Evidence of fetal growth restriction as assessed by ultrasound.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Women with chronic hypertension or diagnosed cardiovascular disorders. Patients with pre-existing chronic renal or hepatic disease. Women diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus or hemorrhagic disorders. Patients with psychiatric conditions that may interfere with the study protocol or follow-up.

To determine the prevalence of severe preeclampsia and comprehensively identify the clinical, biochemical, radiological, and genetic risk factors that contribute to ICU admission among pregnant and postnatal women.Timepoint: To determine the prevalence of severe preeclampsia and associated risk factors for intensive care unit admission during hospital admission.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Proportion of women with severe preeclampsia requiring ICU admission during the study period. Maternal outcomes including duration of ICU stay, need for mechanical ventilation, need for renal replacement therapy, and in-hospital maternal mortality. Fetal and neonatal outcomes including birth weight, gestational age at delivery, Apgar scores, NICU admission, and neonatal mortality. Association between SNP rs4769613 genotype and severity of preeclampsia requiring ICU admission. Predictive performance of combined clinical, biochemical, radiological, and genetic markers for ICU admission assessed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis.Timepoint: Secondary outcomes will be assessed at predefined time points from hospital admission until discharge or in-hospital death.
