Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with sickle cell arthropathy of hip undergoing Total hip arthroplasty in the Department of Orthopaedics, AIIMS Raipur

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with uncontrolled Diabetes/ malignancies / those upon immunosuppressant drugs/ etc all immunocompromised states 2. Patients with cephalosporin allergy 3. Patients with associated chronic renal disease/ chronic liver disease/ malnourished patients 4. Patients undergoing revision THA 5. Patients who had undergone any other hip surgery in the same side

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome of this study is the incidence of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI), defined according to the Musculoskeletal Infection Society (MSIS) criteria, The incidence of PJI in both the 1-day and 3-day antibiotic groups will be compared using a chi-square test. Relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) will be calculated to estimate the effect size between the two treatment groups.Timepoint: 4 weeks
