Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients with sickle cell arthropathy of hip undergoing Total hip arthroplasty in the Department of Orthopaedics, AIIMS Raipur
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with uncontrolled Diabetes/ malignancies / those upon immunosuppressant drugs/ etc all immunocompromised states 2. Patients with cephalosporin allergy 3. Patients with associated chronic renal disease/ chronic liver disease/ malnourished patients 4. Patients undergoing revision THA 5. Patients who had undergone any other hip surgery in the same side

| The primary outcome of this study is the incidence of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI), defined according to the Musculoskeletal Infection Society (MSIS) criteria, The incidence of PJI in both the 1-day and 3-day antibiotic groups will be compared using a chi-square test. Relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) will be calculated to estimate the effect size between the two treatment groups.Timepoint: 4 weeks | — |
