Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients over 18 years of age. Diagnosis of ARDS based on Berlin Criteria. Mild ARDS PaO2 FiO2 ratio 200 mmHg and 300 mmHg with PEEP 5 cm H2O. Moderate ARDS PaO2 FiO2 ratio 100 mmHg and 200 mmHg with PEEP 5 cm H2O. Severe ARDS PaO2 FiO2 ratio 100 mmHg with PEEP 5 cm H2O. Bilateral patchy diffuse or homogeneous infiltrates consistent with pulmonary edema. Presenting with acute hypoxemia and no clinical evidence of congestive heart failure.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnant Women 2. Children 3. peripheral Vascular disease, jaundice, Inadequate SpO2 tracing
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Correlation coefficient between SpO2 FiO2 and PaO2 FiO2 ratios for ARDS severity subgroups mild moderate severe. Diagnostic accuracy of SpO2 FiO2 for classifying ARDS severity compared to standard PaO2 FiO2 criteria overall accuracy sensitivity specificity.Timepoint: BASELINE, i.e., i will calculate pao2/fio2 ratio and spo2/fio2 ratio at the same time immediately on patient admission | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Threshold determination Identification of SpO2 FiO2 cut-offs corresponding to established PaO2 FiO2 ARDS severity categories. Prognostic value Predictive value of SpO2 FiO2 ratio for patient-centered outcomes such as in-hospital mortality duration of mechanical ventilation ICU length of stay and development of ARDS among at-risk patients. Evaluation of reduction in arterial blood gas sampling and safety profile when using SpO2 FiO2 for monitoring.Timepoint: Nil | — |
