Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Classical signs and symptoms of Santarpanottha Prameha (Diabetes mellitus Type2) described in Ayurvedic classics as well as modern science. 2.Patient having classical signs and symptoms of the diasease as per Ayurveda as well as modern science, like. Avila Mutrata (turbidity), Prabhuta Mutrata (polyuria), Mutra Madhuryata (glycosuria), Pipasa Adhikya (polydypsia), Kshudha Adhikya (polyphagia), Swedadhikya (perspiration), Angagandha (bad odour from the body parts), Nidra Adhikya, Kara Pada Suptata, Hasta Pada Tala Daha 3.Patients of NIDDM with blood F.B.S greater than or equal to 126 mg per dl or P.P.B.S. greater than or equal to 200mg/dl. 4.Age group of 18 to 60 years. 5.Diabetes chronicity less than 10 years. 6.Patient otherwise fit for Snehana and Virechana Karma. 7.Patients on allopathic treatment will be included in this study. The dose of modern medicine will be adjusted and tapered during the period of trial as per need.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients of Type-1 Diabetes or the patients of Type-2 Diabetes taking Insulin. 2. Patients having history of any major complications of Diabetes like Nephropathy, Retinopathy, Diabetic Foot, Carbuncles etc. and uncontrolled blood sugar (RBS more than 400mg per dl) 3.Patients having history of Diabetes in association with other endocrinopathies like Hyperthyroidism etc. 4.Patients having history of drug or chemical induced Type-II Diabetes, like glucocorticoids induced or thyroid hormone induced etc. 5.Patients having history of any cardiovascular disease, renal disease, or any other disease affecting multiple body systems, pregnancy, lactation etc. 6.Knowm case of Anorectal disorders causing bleeding, pain, swelling.

1.Subjective Criteria Before and after treatment scores will be assessed on The basis of specially prepared proforma containing detail history, symptoms of the disease as per Ayurvedic texts and modern parameters. 2. Objective Parameters Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) (mg per dl) Postprandial Blood Sugar (PPBS) (mg per dl) Body weight (kg) and BMI Urine sugar (positive or negative) Measured quantitatively by standard laboratory methods.Timepoint: subjective criteria will be assessed on daily basis from base line to end of study. objective criteria will be assessed on baseline , after comletion of virechan karma and at the end of treatment protocol.
