Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: a. Patients more than equal to 18 years of age will be included in the study. b. Patients whose death certificate mentions death due to a respiratory cause as an â??Immediateâ?? or â??Antecedentâ?? cause as mentioned in Part I of the death certificate or â??other causeâ?? as mentioned in Part II of the death certificate, will be included in the study. c. Following alternative terminologies for Asthma or COPD as mentioned in Part I or II of the death certificate will also be included i. COPD with severity (mild/moderate/severe) ii. Asthma with severity (mild/moderate/severe) iii. AECOPD iv. Acute Exacerbation of COPD. v. Acute on Chronic Bronchitis vi. Chronic Bronchitis vii. Emphysema viii. Status Asthmaticus ix. Acute Exacerbation of Asthma x. Acute Flare up of Asthma xi. Allergic Bronchitis xii. Hyper Reactive Airways xiii. Wheezy Bronchitis. xiv. Eosinophilic Bronchitis

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: a. Patients under 18 years of age will be excluded from the study. b. Patients who have died due to a non-respiratory cause and who do not have Asthma, COPD (including alternative terminologies) as an â??Immediateâ?? or â??Antecedentâ?? cause as mentioned in Part I of the death certificate or â??other causeâ?? as mentioned in Part II of the death certificate will be excluded from the study. c. Patients with Asthma, COPD (including alternative terminologies) who are alive and have been discharged from the study siteâ??s tertiary care center.
