Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients who have undergone elective OPCAB and with positive blood culture after 2 calendar days of ICU admission 2. Age more than 18 years. 3. Patients who will provide written informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. History of hypersensitivity to the antimicrobial agents (polyhexamethylbiguanide PHMB) used in the coated catheters. 2. Patients requiring central venous catheterization for less than 48 hours. 3. Patients with immunocompromised states or on immunosuppressive therapy. 4. Intraoperative conversion from off-pump to on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting. 5. Use of intra-aortic balloon pump perioperatively.

To determine CLABSI Rate per 1000 central line days in post OPCAB patients with and without antimicrobial coated central venous catheters AMC CVCs versus S-CVCTimepoint: 48 hours post-randomization and 48 hours after CVC removal

To evaluate the time to the first bloodstream infection occurring between 48 hours post-randomization and 48 hours after CVC removal comparing antibiotic impregnated and standard CVCs following OPCAB surgery To Evaluate trends in inflammatory biomarkers such as WBC counts C reactive protein and procalcitonin levels To determine the length of ICU and hospital stay Timepoint: 48 hours post randomization and 48 hours after CVC removal
