Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Adults aged 60 to 80 years. 2. Clinically diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. 3. BMI greater than or equal to 25 kg/m (Asia-Pacific classification for obesity). 4. Referred for MRI and able to undergo MRI procedures. 5. Willing to participate and provide written informed consent. 6. Able to follow yoga instructions and perform basic physical movements.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. History of neurological disorders (e.g., stroke, epilepsy, brain tumors, neurodegenerative diseases). 2. Psychiatric illnesses affecting cognition (e.g., major depression, schizophrenia). 3. Severe musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, or respiratory conditions that limit physical activity or make yoga unsafe. 4. Contraindications to MRI (e.g., pacemaker, metallic implants, claustrophobia). 5. Uncontrolled hypertension or uncontrolled diabetes. 6. Current participation in structured yoga or exercise programs. 7. Any condition that, in the investigator s opinion, may interfere with participation or study outcomes.

MeasureTime frame
Outcome 1: Change in carotid artery flow velocity and artery diameter measured by Doppler ultrasound. Outcome 2: Change in total and regional brain volumes measured using T1-weighted MRI (FSPGR sequence). Outcome 3: Change in white matter integrity measured using Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI). Outcome 4: Change in resting-state functional connectivity and BOLD signal patterns from resting-state fMRI.Timepoint: Baseline (pre-intervention) and 6 months(26 weeks) post-intervention.

Outcome 1: Change in cognitive performance on the Eriksen Flanker Test (accuracy % & reaction time in milliseconds). Outcome 2: Change in working memory performance on the N-Back Test (accuracy % on 0-back, 1-back, 2-back, & 3-back tasks).Timepoint: Baseline (pre-intervention) & 6 months(26 weeks) post-intervention.
