Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Male or female indoor patients satisfying the ICD 11 criteria of Schizophrenia 2. Illness duration of minimum 2 years. 3. Patients who are drug free/drug naive. 4. Those who give informed consent for participating in the study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Any other major comorbid psychiatric diagnosis and substance dependence excluding nicotine & caffeine. 2. Current or past history of severe medical or neurological illness. 3. Known hypersensitivity to Selenium or any of its components. 4. Patients who had received ECT in the last six months. 5. Comorbid medical illness known to affect Selenium levels including acute or chronic inflammatory disorder and neurological disorder. 6. Patient on multivitamin supplementation.
