Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients (more than 18 years of age), diagnosed with Diabetic Foot Ulcer, admitted to the general surgical wards in Kasturba Hospital, Manipal and being treated by the Department of General Surgery, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal for their condition during the specific study period.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who are: less than 18 years of age, admitted for DFU but being primarily managed by a different department (for any reason), those whose date of discharge is prior to start of data collection or date of admission after data collection has been completed; those who are admitted and discharged within time periods where the primary investigator is not able to recruit patients (due to exams, college vacations. etc) and the patients that refuse to provide their consent to be recruited into the study will not be included.

MeasureTime frame
The primary intended outcome of this study is that a p-value of less than 0.05 and an odds ratio not equal to 1 is obtained for each of the risk factors/associated factors related to Diabetic Foot Ulcer tested, signifying a statistically significant difference in the occurrence of these factors between male patients and female patients in Diabetic Foot Ulcer patients.Timepoint: No planned time points for data estimation/assessment. Once data from required sample size has been collected, data analysis will be done on the whole data set.
