Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Adults (18 to 64 years). 2.Elective non-cardiac, non-neurosurgical surgeries under GA. 3.ASA I to III. 4.Normal ocular movements.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with known neurological or neuromuscular disorders. 2.Patients with pre-existing ocular abnormalities affecting gaze. 3.Patients undergoing ophthalmic or neurosurgical procedures. 4.Emergency surgical cases. 5.Patients on medications affecting neuromuscular function or consciousness. 6.Intraoperative complications requiring prolonged sedation or postoperative ventilation. 7.Patients requiring postoperative sedation or ICU care 8.Prone or lateral positioning during surgery

MeasureTime frame
Eye gaze transition is expected to appear earlier than traditional signs of recovery such as respiration, movement, and airway reflexes. It may serve as a reliable early predictor of emergence from anaesthesia, improving the accuracy and safety of extubation decisions. This simple bedside marker could be particularly useful in elderly, comorbid, and resource-limited settingsTimepoint: Eye-gaze transition, return of spontaneous respiration, and first purposeful limb movement will be checked from the moment anesthesia is stopped until each one occurs in the next 10 to 15 minutes.
