Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Gestational age more than 35weeks and Birth weight more than 2500 g to 4000g. Five minute Apgar score of 7 or more. Normal findings on physical examination. Healthy and actively feeding neonates. Stooling and voiding by 24hours of age. Greater than 2 days but less than 7 days of age at the start of phototherapy. Neonates with Non haemolytic jaundice. Total serum bilirubin level not more then 1mg/dl above the phototherapy treatment cut-off(as per AAP chart).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Haemolytic jaundice (ABO,Rh incompatibility,G6PD,RBC membranopathies). Hereditary hyperbilirubinemia. Underlying risk factors like sepsis, birth asphyxia, dehydration. Serum bilirubin level more than 2mg/dl above the phototherapy treatment cut-off (as per AAP chart). Gestation less than 35weeks, Birth weight less than 2500g. Multiple congenital malformations.

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the effectiveness of mean daily reduction of serum bilirubin levels in home phototherapy group as compare to in-hospital phototherapy group.Timepoint: To evaluate the effectiveness of home phototherapy compared with hospital based phototherapy by assessing the mean daily reduction in serum bilirubin levels at 24 and 48 hours after initiation of phototherapy.

Secondary Outcomes: 1.To evaluate feasibility,safety,cost effectiveness in both group. 2.Duration of phototherapy received. 3.Re-hospitilization rates. 4.Parental stress scale. 5.Complications(skin rash, rashes, dehydration, hypo/hyperthermiaTimepoint: To assess at 24 & 48 hours after initiation of phototherapy.
