Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Chronic periodontitis patients with and without type 2 diabetes, in the age group of 35-60 years with generalized moderate to severe chronic periodontitis, probing pocket depth (PPD) greater than or equal to 5mm, clinical attachment loss (CAL) greater than or equal to 3mm; Minimum complement of 20 natural teeth, good/target glycemic control of less than or equal to 7 percent and poor glycemic control of greater than 7 percent of HbA1c.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Systemic conditions other than type 2 diabetes mellitus. Those who have received prior periodontal treatment or antibiotic therapy within the last six months. Smokers and patients consuming tobacco products. Pregnant and lactating women.
