Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients of type 2 DM Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) level in the range of 126 mg/dl to 200 mg/dl or Post Prandial Blood Sugar level more than or equal to 200 mg/dl to 280 mg/dl. The HbA1c levels should lie within the range of more than or equal to 6.5 percent to less than or equal to 8.5 percent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient diagnosed with Type 1 DM Patients of Type 2 DM taking insulin Patients suffering from any chronic systemic disorders like renal disorder, endocrinal disorders or have been diagnosed with malignancy of any system. Patients currently using oral hypoglycemic agents (Conventional). Patients with Gestational diabetes mellitus (Pregnancy) or Lactating women. Patient on corticosteroids or any other drugs like Thiazide diuretics, Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors, GLP-1 receptor agonists etc. that may affect glucose metabolism. Patient diagnosed with hypothyroidism.

The Expected Primary Outcome is improvement in the symptoms and change in fasting blood sugar and HbA1c from baseline ( after 90 days of therapy).  Timepoint: The Expected Primary Outcome is improvement in the symptoms and change in fasting blood sugar and HbA1c from baseline ( after 90 days of therapy).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The Expected Secondary Outcome is that Katurohini (Picrorrhiza kurroa Royle ex Benth) is a safe drug. Timepoint: 90 days
