Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: Children aged 1 month to 18 years of age admitted with a clinical diagnosis of sepsis in the Department of Paediatrics, KMC Manipal.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria: Children with Pre-existing condition associated with dysfunction of the hypothalamo–pituitary–adrenal axis. Known endocrine disorders affecting cortisol metabolism. Any use of systemic corticosteroids during the 2 weeks preceding this episode. Patients with known primary immune deficiency disorders. Children receiving immunosuppressive therapy
