Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Case: Patients aged between 30 to 50 years who have recently been diagnosed (within the last 6 months) with T2DM as per ADA (American Diabetes Association) criteria will be considered as study participants (cases). Control: Participants will be selected from the relatives of the admitted patients at Dr NDDFMSR who are non-diabetic as per ADA criteria.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants with already developed diabetic complications, type 1 diabetes mellitus, gestational or secondary diabetes, diagnosed thyroid disorders, pregnant and lactating women, those receiving systemic or long-term inhaled corticosteroids and individuals undergoing psychiatric treatment will be excluded from the study. Critically ill patients unable to respond to interviews and those not willing to give written informed consent will also be excluded from the study
