Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patient group Adult patients admitted to ICUs with Sepsis, Septic Shock, and other sterile inflammatory conditions, including major surgery, trauma, poisoning, and pancreatitis Healthy controls Healthy adults willing to provide informed consent with vitals in the normal range or with well-controlled underlying health conditions
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patient Group Age below 18 years Inability to obtain consent Pregnant or breastfeeding women Under restricted liberty or legal protection Patient with an anticipated duration of hospital stay of less than 48 hours Repeated admission to hospital or transfer from another hospital or ward (Stay more than 48 hours) Received prolonged immunosuppressant treatment, chemotherapy, radiation or transplant drugs within a month Extracorporeal circulation greater than 4 units in the past week Healthy controls Age less than 18 years Pregnant or breast feeding women Inability to obtain consent With history of severe chronic illness Received prolonged antibiotics, antifungals, anti-parasitic drugs or immunosuppressants in the past month History of Sepsis or Septic shock in the past 6 months
