Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA Physical Status I and II Patient having mouth opening more than 2cm Patients undergoing elective oro-maxillary facial surgeries requiring naso-tracheal intubation

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with severe nasal deformities, nasal pathology or previous nasal surgery Patient with history of bleeding disorders and coagulopathy Patient with Lefort III type of fracture and C-spine fracture or disease

MeasureTime frame
Time to intubation (from insertion of laryngoscope to appearance of first capnographic waveform) Timepoint: Time to intubation measured once during induction at the time of nasotracheal intubation, single intra-operative measurementusing a handheld stopwatch by an independent observer from blade insertion to first capnographic wave; capnography will confirm tube placement.

Ease of intubation (Modified Intubation Difficulty Score) Timepoint: During intubation, assessed during intubation immediately after tube placement single intra-operative assessment. ;Hemodynamic parameters - Heart rate, Mean arterial pressure, SpO2 Timepoint: Baseline (pre-induction), immediately after intubation (0 min), & then at 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 minutes post-intubation;First attempt success rate Timepoint: Recorded at the time of intubation (immediate; single intra-operative outcome).
