Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1 Patients belonging to the age group of 16 to 35 years belonging to both sexes. 2 Patients with Angle’s Class II Division 1 malocclusion. 3 Patients requiring camouflage treatment by extraction of upper first premolars. 4 Overjet greater than 5mm and overbite 0 to 4 mm. 5 Average growth pattern Frankfort mandibular plane angle 22 to 28 degrees with standard deviation of 3 degree 6 Patients with no or minimal crowding in maxillary arch less than 3mm. 7 Patients requiring maximum anchorage during space closure. 8 Fully erupted permanent dentition except third molar. 9 Good oral hygiene.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1 Patients with severe crowding in maxillary arch. 2 Patients requiring absolute anchorage where mini-implants may be desired. 3 Missing permanent teeth other than third molars. 4 Patients with any systemic disease or syndromes or any other craniofacial abnormalities. 5 Patient under medications that may affect orthodontic tooth movement.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the external apical root resorption in the maxillary anterior teeth using cone beam computed tomography taken pre (T0) and at the end of the space closure (T1) with modified intrusion and retraction mechanics.Timepoint: Pre Retraction (T0)(Before space closure - 0 months ) Post Retraction (T1)( After space closure- 12 months)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate change in buccal & palatal crestal bone height after completion of retraction. To evaluate change in buccal & palatal alveolar bone thickness of the maxillary anterior teeth after completion of retraction.Timepoint: Pre Retraction (T0)(Before space closure -0 months) Post Retraction (T1)(After space closure- 12 months).
