Intervention1: scaling and root planing with lycopene gel: initial full mouth scaling and root planing will be done with ultrasonic scaling unit and gracey curettes until the root surface is considere

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Having at least 20 permanent teeth Probing Pocket depth greater than 4 mm Clinical attachment loss of greater than 4 mm 2017 Classification of Periodontal and Peri Implant Diseases and Condition Generalized periodontitis when more than 30 percentage sites are affected 2017 Classification of Periodontal and Peri Implant Diseases and Condition

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: History of any systemic diseases that can alter the course of the periodontal disease Smokers History of periodontal therapy in the preceding 1 year Vitamins A or C or E or any form of antioxidant therapy within the last 3 months Use of antibiotics in the previous 3 months Pregnant women and lactating mothers Not willing to participate in the study
