Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia,aged between 18 to 70 years.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Preop use of steriods,peptic ulcer,pregnancy,malignancy,immunosuppression,severe renal impairement,liver impairement,preoperative blood glucose greater than 199.8mg/dl

MeasureTime frame
To compare and evaluate the postoperative glycemic profile after a single dose of parenteral dexamethasone administered intraoperatively in non-diabetes and type II diabetes mellitus patients.Timepoint: To check blood glucose after 2 hours of drug administration and post op day 1 and 2 Fasting and postprandial sugar is measured.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the post operative nausea & vomiting (PONV) incidence in non-diabetes (normal) & type II diabetes mellitus patients. Timepoint: PONV evaluated in postop after shifting patiend & pod 1 & 2.
