Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Diagnosed with T1DM for at least six months. Age: 05-20 years. No history of other vascular diseases.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Smoking, hypertension (HTN), Type 2 diabetes, Any connective tissue disease, History of organ dysfunction (heart, liver, kidney), Nail infections, Aesthetic treatment of nails. Prior or current use of immunosuppressive drugs/ NSAIDS. Presence of acute infections at the time of sampling. Did not give consent.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the role of NFC in detecting early microvascular changes in T1DM Timepoint: 12 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To investigate the role of cytokine biomarkers (IL-6 & 35) in microvascular changes. To establish relationship between HbA1c levels & capillary anatomy as markers of glycemic control & microvascular status. To correlate fundus imaging findings & renal markers with NFC.Timepoint: 12 months
