Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients of all ages and genders with thoracic trauma reporting to our trauma centre and requiring chest tube placement as decided by trauma surgery team will be enrolled
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients meeting following exclusion criteria will be excluded: 1) placed on mechanical ventilator within 24hrs of arrival 2) requiring ICU admission 3) who were in a state of cardiopulmonary arrest on arrival and died within 24hrs of arrival 4) requiring thoracotomy within first 48hrs of admission 5) with known history of any pulmonary disease 6) with coagulopathy or any history of current use of antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapy 7) with immunocompromised state 8) who have not consented for the study
