Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria will: (1) meeting the diagnostic criteria for diabetes based on the American Diabetes Association (ADA) guidelines, (2) age over 60 years, for both males and females, (3) a diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) for more than 3 years, (4) fasting plasma glucose level greater than 7 mmol/L and (5) willingness to participate in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants will be excluded if: (1) they had chronic inflammatory or pathological conditions, (2) they were pregnant, or (3) they were currently undergoing treatment with antidepressants.
