Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged 18 to 65 years, ASA physical status I and II and those are taken for elective surgeries requiring general anaesthesia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients having Maxillo-facial injuries or neck deformities or known airway pathology, limited mouth opening (less then 3 cm)and pateints who are pregnant

Comparison of El-Ganzouri Plus Risk Index and ultrasonographically measured skin-to-epiglottis distance for predicting difficult laryngoscopy in adult patients undergoing elective surgeries, defined by modified Cormack-Lehane grade III or IV during direct laryngoscopy.Timepoint: Preoperatively, within 24 hours before surgery-assessment of El-Ganzouri Plus risk index components and ultrasound measurements of skin-to-epiglottis distance. Intraoperatively ( at the time of laryngoscopy during induction of anaesthesia)

Sensitivity, specificity, postive predictive value, negative predicitve value & diagnostic accuracy of El-Ganzouri Plus Risk Index & ultrasonographically measured parameterx for predicting difficult laryngoscopy. Determination of cutoff values for skin-to-epiglottis distance, skin-to-hyoid bone distance, skin-to-vocal cords distance, hyomental distance & hyomental distance ratio correlating with difficult laryngoscopy.Timepoint: Preoperative (within 24 hours before surgery): collection of El-Ganzouri plus risk index parameters, ultraound airway measurements, & demographic details. Intraoperative (during induction of anaesthesia): Grading of laryngoscopy. Postoperative (within 24 hours): Data entry, statistical analysis of correlation & diagnostic accuracy.
