Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients within the age group of 18-35 years Patients with class 1 malocclusion with bimaxillary protrusion requiring upper first premolar extraction or upper third molar extraction. Presence of all permanent teeth with/without third molars

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with poor oral hygiene, who were periodontally compromised, and with smoking habits. Restorative treatment of U1 or U6 at any time during the observation period. Dentofacial deformity History of orthognathic surgery Patients with a previous history of orthodontics

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To prospectively compare axial inclination of the maxillary central incisor post-leveling and aligning and post-treatment with either distalisation using IZC screws or conventional retraction following four premolar extraction. Timepoint: T0 - 6 months (After leveling and aligning) T1 - 14 months (Post distalization and Post treatment)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the changes in the soft tissue, including upper lip protrusion & nasolabial angle using cephalometric parameters post-leveling & aligning & after treatment using infra zygomatic screws & conventional retraction methods. Timepoint: T0 - 6 months (After leveling & aligning) T1 - 14 months (Post distalization & Post treatment)
