Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients of age 60 and more of either gender admitted to ICU during the study period. 2.Patients who develop laboratory confirmed blood stream infection at or after 48 hours of central line insertion or had central line in-situ within 48 hours before the development of blood stream infection. 3.Clinically symptoms coherent with possible Central line associated Blood stream infection.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with central line in-situ who develop blood stream infection related to an infection from any other secondary source. 2.Patient planned to be referred to other hospitals before completion of treatment of central line associated blood stream infection. 3.Patients without central line catheters. 4.Patient or relative refusal for consent.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To analyze the risk factors associated with short-term mortality (30 days post-ICU admission) in geriatric ICU patients with CLABSI.Timepoint: Till 30 days post-ICU admission or death or discharge whichever occurs earlier

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To describe the antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of identified bacterial pathogen responsible for CLABSI in geriatric ICU patients during the study duration.Timepoint: Till 30 days post-ICU admission or death or discharge whichever occurs earlier;2.To describe the adherence to CLABSI bundles among geriatric ICU patients with Central line associated Blood stream infection.Timepoint: Till 30 days post-ICU admission or death or discharge whichever occurs earlier;3.To describe the outcome parameters among geriatric ICU patients with Central line associated Blood stream infection.Timepoint: Till 30 days post-ICU admission or death or discharge whichever occurs earlier
