Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Age 18 to 65 years 2.ASA Physical Status I or II 3.BMI 18.5 to 34.9 kg per meter square 4.Patients scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy under general anaesthesia 5.For diabetic group, Known T2DM with HbA1c level less than 6.5 percent, FBS less than 180 mg per dL and Duration of diabetes less than or equal to 5 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.History of GERD or upper GI surgery 2.Use of prokinetics, opioids or drugs affecting gastric motility 3.Pregnancy 4.Anticipated difficult airway

MeasureTime frame
To compare gastric residual volume ml per kg between controlled type 2 diabetic patients and non-diabetic patients as per ERAS guidelines, using gastric ultrasonography.Timepoint: 2 hours after ingestion of an oral carbohydrate-rich fluid as per ERAS guidelines, using at the pre procedural, Intraprocedural and post procedural.

MeasureTime frame
1.To assess and compare preoperative glycaemic levels- Fasting Blood Sugar and HbA1c in both groups. 2.To compare the change in stress markers (NLR,PLR,ALR) in the pre- and post-operative period in both groups. 3.To evaluate and compare the length of PACU, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit stay in controlled type-2 diabetic vs non-diabetic patients. Timepoint: at pre procedural, Intra procedural and post procedural.
