Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients willing to participate in the study 2. Non diabetic patients aged between 18-60 years 3. ASA grade I and II 4. All patients posted for daycare laparoscopic surgery within 2 hours under general anesthesia
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients not willing to participate in the study 2. ASA grade III, IV and V 3. Patients having Gastro esophageal reflux disease. 4. Patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery extending beyond 2 hours 5. Pregnant or lactating females

| 1. To assess postoperative pain using Visual Analogue Scale scores at defined time intervals between the two groups. 2. To evaluate gastric residual volume before induction in both groups 3. To measure urinary ketone levels postoperatively as an indicator of catabolic state in both groups. 3. To evaluate the discharge time from the Post- Anesthetic Care Unit. Timepoint: Assessment will be done for Visual analogue score at 0 hours, 6 hours & at the time of discharge; assessment for gastric residual volume 10 mins before induction; check for preoperative as well as postoperative urine ketone; time from discharge from Post anesthetic care unit within 6 hours & more than 6 hours | — |
