Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: diagnosed with GBS, patients with sub-acute GBS(4-12 weeks of onset), medically stable, Muscle strength of dorsiflexors and plantarflexors equal to or less than 4, reduced deep tendon reflex at knee and ankle, willing to participate.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: cognitive impairment (mini mental state ex amination); contraindications to NMES, such as a Implanted electrical devices (pacemaker, defibrillator) or tumour; concomitant neurological, orthopaedic, metabolic, and oncological diseases; chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) patients; Miller-Fisher condition; history of orthopaedic or other neurologic disorders affecting walking function; severe autonomic dysfunction (unstable blood pressure, arrhythmia).
