Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Undergoing mechanical ventilation in pressure support mode Respiratory rate more than 30 breaths per min Tidal volume less than 4 to8ml per kg predicted body weight Rapid shallow breathing index more than 105 breaths per min Respiratory distress observational scale more than 3

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Hemodynamic instability Transfer to another hospital or Icu Administration of neuromuscular blocking agents
