This study aims at reducing bleeding and offer better view while operating by comparing two different techniques to lower pressure in great veins in patients undergoing liver surgeries- Glyceryl trinitrate infusion versus head end up position

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: age group 18-70, all open resections- As low CVP being our primary outcome, we target low CVP for all resections irrespective of the segments involved.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: liver resection involving other organs, patients with pulmonary hypertension, valvular heart disease, known allergy to glyceryl trinitrate.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Reduction in central venous pressure less than 5mmhg and percentage of reduction from baseline with reverse Trendelenburg position versus glyceryl trinitrate infusionTimepoint: before, during and after liver resection

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Blood loss Lactate levels Pulse pressure variation & other hemodynamic parameters Requirement of blood transfusion Requirement of vasopressors Duration of ICU stayTimepoint: every 15 minutes till the end of liver resection & at end of surgery & at discharge
