Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants will include children between age group of 1 month to 18 years of age admitted to Paediatrics Intensive Care Unit.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Those receiving Zinc supplementation prior to admission . 2. Children with severe malnutrition . 3. Denial of parental consent

Severity of illness- Mortality PRISM III ScoreTimepoint: at admission (baseline)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Duration of PICU stay Need for mechanical ventilation. Need for inotropic support.Timepoint: Duration of PICU stay would be assessed at the time of discharge or death Need for mechanical ventilation & inotropic support would be assessed during PICU stay.
