Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Upon obtaining approval from the Institutional Ethical Committee, the study will be registered in the Clinical Trial Registry of India (CTRI). Written informed consent will be sought from the parents or guardians of 94 children all American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status (ASA-PS) I and II, aged between 1 and 3 years, of either gender undergoing elective surgery under general anaesthesia would be enrolled.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Parents refusal Increased risk regurgitation or pulmonary aspiration (Hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, delayed gastric emptying time, esophageal stricture) Difficult visualization of stomach via USG (Paralytic ileus, bowel peforation, hepatosplenomegaly) Inadequate fasting status Children with nasogastric tube in situ
