Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients included in the study were experiencing anterior or retropatellar pain or peripatellar pain from at least two of the following activities prolonged sitting, stair climbing, squatting, running, kneeling and hopping/jumping, with symptom onset unrelated to a traumatic incident and experienced pain on palpation of the patellar facets.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with acute knee or patellar tendon injuries prior knee surgery without full rehabilitation inflammatory joint diseases daily use of drugs with a putative effect on the patellar tendon local injection therapy with corticosteroids, previous patellar tendon rupture pathology, such as knee osteoarthritis/arthritis signs or symptoms of other coexisting knee pathology on physical examination or ultrasound/ MRI.
