Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1 Adults aged 18-35 diagnosed with chronic low back pain 2 Pain localized primarily to lumbar region 3 Pain intensity 4 or more on 11 point numeric rating scale 4 Healthy controls without history of chronic low back pain 5. Capable of providing informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1 Pregnancy or breastfeeding. 2 Recent lumbar surgery within last 12 months. 3 Spinal trauma, fracture, or structural abnormalities affecting lumbar spine. 4 Systemic inflammatory conditions e.g., rheumatoid arthritis. 5 Severe neurological deficit. 6 Recent use of corticosteroids or medications affecting muscle morphology. 7 Intensive physical training or competitive sports. 8 Skin disease condition at the site of imaging.

1. Muscle thickness of the lumbar multifidus muscle via ultrasound imaging at L4 level . 2. Correlation between pennation angle and muscle thickness in the lumbar multifidus muscle. 3. Correlation between lumbar multifidus muscle morphology (pennation angle and muscle thickness) and clinical measures of pain intensity (NRS) and pain duration.
