Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1)Patients fulfilling the Diagnostic criteria for temporomandibular disorders (DC/TMD)31 for Pain-Related temporomandibular disorders which include Myalgia (Local myalgia, myofascial pain, and myofascial pain with referral). 2)Recurrent and chronic history of pain. 3)Patients who have given Informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)Patients fulfilling the DC/TMD CRITERIA of Diagnostic Procedures for Pain Related temporomandibular disorder which include Headache attributed to TMD, Disc derangement, Degenerative joint disease, Subluxation. 2)Patient with inflammation in the oral cavity (e.g., pulpitis or impacted molars) manifested as myospasm or preventive muscle contraction. 3)Patient with previous splint therapy, pharmacotherapy (e.g., oral contraception, hormone replacement therapy and antidepressants) 4) Patients with history of any surgical procedures of the TMJ including arthrocentesis and arthroscopy 5)Patient undergoing orthodontic treatment 6) Patients with masticatory organ or whiplash injury or history of trauma to jaw. 7)Patient with severe pain. 8) Patients with mental illness 9)Pregnant females 10)Patient with known tape allergy. 11) Patient not willing to give informed consent.

MeasureTime frame
Intensity of pain, maximum interincisal opening, pressure pain thresholdTimepoint: 1st,3rd,6th,9th and on 12th day and after 1 month of the cessation of the treatment.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.To note the adverse effects of Kinesio tape.Timepoint: 1st, 3rd,6th, 9th and on 12th day and after 1 month of the cessation of the treatment.
