Patients undergoing laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery of two hours duration will be divided into two groups and be given carbohydrate drink or plain water two hours before their surgery to find weather it leads to early achievement of gastric motility and pain control or not.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1)ASA status 1 or 2 2)Elective Laparoscopic Surgery 3)Informed consent by the patient or the patients legal representatives 4)The expected duration of surgery is less than two hours

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1)patient or legal guardian in unwilling 2)Diabetes 3)Emergency Surgery 4)Pregnant or Obstetric Patient 5)Morbidly obese patient 6)Patients with any deranged renal or liver profile and cardiac disease
