Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients seeking primary endodontic treatment with carious lower molars with pulpal necrosis and asymptomatic apical periodontitis and periapical index scoring of more than or equal to 3

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: patients with any acute or chronic systemic diseases o, pregnant patients, patients with preoperative pain, patients requiring antibiotic premedication

To see the effect of foraminal enlargement on postoperative painTimepoint: Postoperative pain will be assessed using the visual analogue scale at 24 hrs,48 hrs, 72 hrs.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To see the effect of foraminal enlargement on periapical healingTimepoint: Periapical healing will be assessed radiographically at 1 , 3, 6 & 12 months respectively.
