When patients undergo surgery, inserting a breathing tube (endotracheal intubation) can cause a stress response, leading to increased heart rate and blood pressure. Two medications, dexmedetomidine and magnesium sulphate, can help reduce this stress response.

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients of either sex scheduled to undergo elective surgical laparoscopic procedures under general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation. 2. Patients of ASA grade 1 and II. 3. Patient willing to give the consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with history of known allergy to study drugs. 2. History of consumption of antihypertensive drugs, sedatives, Hypnotics and antidepressants preoperatively. 3. Pre-existing cardiovascular disease, significant respiratory, renal and hepatic disorder. 4. History of drugs or alcohol abuse. 5. Pregnant and lactating patients 6. Patients requiring rapid sequence induction of anaesthesia 7. Anticipated difficult bag mask ventilation or oral endotracheal intubation. 8.Unanticipated difficult intubation requiring more than one attempt or equal to more than 30 seconds for successful intubation.

To assess & compare proportion of patients developing postoperative sedation by Ramsay sedation score &any side effects. Timepoint: At Baseline,At 10 min before induction,1 min,3 min,5 min,10,20,30 ,50 min then at the end of surgery ,then upto 12 hr post op.
