Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The study will include patients aged between 18 and 45 years who meet specific clinical criteria. Participants must be diagnosed with periodontitis, ranging from moderate to severe, as determined by clinical examination. Additionally, individuals diagnosed with sickle cell anemia (SCA) will be considered, with diagnosis confirmed through both clinical evaluation and laboratory tests, specifically those with hemoglobin S levels greater than 45%.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients will be excluded from the study if they have a history of periodontal surgery or other periodontal treatments within the past 6 months. Additionally, individuals with systemic conditions that may alter salivary composition, such as autoimmune diseases or oral cancer, will not be eligible. Those who have used antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications in the past 3 months will also be excluded, as well as pregnant or lactating individuals. Furthermore, patients with severe medical conditions that could potentially influence the study results will be excluded to ensure the integrity of the findings.
