Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The primary aim of this study is to compare the Interscalene nerve block with combined Subomohyoid anterior Suprascapular nerve and Axillary nerve block in terms of diaphragm paralysis by assessing ultrasound guided ipsilateral diaphragmatic excursion. Timepoint: Hemi diaphragmatic excursion will be assessed during quiet breathing, deep inspiration and the sniff maneuver, before the block,30 minutes after, and 2 hours after recovery. Hemidiaphragmatic paralysis is defined as a more than 25% reduction in diaphragmatic excursion, with complete paralysis defined as a more than 75% reduction | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| 1.To compare pulmonary functions Forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume in 1second & peak expiratory flow rate between Interscalene block & a combination of Subomohyoid anterior Suprascapular nerve block & Axillary nerve block. 2.To compare block related adverse outcomes such as numbness, tingling, weakness, dyspnea & hoarseness of voice between Interscalene block & a combination of Subomohyoid anterior Suprascapular nerve block & Axillary nerve block. Timepoint: 1.Forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume in 1second & peak expiratory flow rate will be assessed 30 min before & after the regional procedure. The test will be repeated three times & the best values of respiratory parameters will be recorded. 2.Block related adverse outcomes such as numbness, tingling, weakness, dyspnea, & hoarseness of voice will be assessed at 0, 4, 6, 12, 18 & 24 hours after surgery | — |
